Life Sciences: Review of progress against Life Science Action plan, PreBio, MDiS, design of support for the medtech sector, International Barley Hub, Advanced Plant Growth Centre, health informatics/ehealth strategy, economic impact of Clinical Studies, biomanufacturing skills audit and Biotechnology skills action plan;
Property/Physical Development: Part own and manage Abbotshaugh Property Limited a commercial property company, Cultybraggan self catering units, Borrodale School Development, Lochgilphead Community Centre Association and Ceteris;
Tourism: Glasgow Tourism Leadership review, Paisley Abbey Fourth Cloister plan, COAST festival, Glendale Farmers Market and miscellaneous commercial review of tourist accommodation projects;
Skills: Head of Skills in Scottish Enterprise with responsibilities for Investors in People, management and leadership, national training programmes including Skillseekers, Training for Work and Modern Apprenticeships. As a consultant also Biosolutions evaluation, Director level skills in Life Sciences and support to develop leadership skills in Glasgow tourism; and
Business Development: Princes Trust business mentor; private investor and angel in multiple companies. Also advice to SE Lanarkshire on the design of their business development support programmes.
Funding and Finance: Successfully secured funding from Scottish Enterprise, Highlands and Islands Enterprise, Scottish Government, City Deal, Scottish Land Fund, Lottery, Social Investment Scotland, private angel investment, Bank debt, charitable trusts and other sources.
